SUMMARY:Understanding ADHD in Women and Children: Recognition\, Impact\, and Support Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Topic: Understanding ADHD in Women and Children \nThis workshop is designed to support mothers in better understanding Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in both themselves and their children. \nADHD is often misunderstood as simply a lack of focus; however\, it is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that impacts executive functioning\, emotional regulation\, motivation\, and daily life management. \nMost women are now being diagnosed in adulthood because they are learning about the disorder in thier children. For many women\, especially mothers\, symptoms may go unrecognized or misattributed\, leading to years of overwhelm\, burnout\, and self-doubt. \nThis session will provide a clear\, accessible overview of how ADHD presents in women and children\, including differences in symptoms across age\, gender\, and life roles. Participants will learn how ADHD may show up beyond traditional stereotypes\, including challenges with mental load\, emotional regulation\, organization\, and follow-through. In addition to this they will recognize when to seek assessment and treatment as well as what to do after diagnose\, whether for themselves or their children. \nFacilitator: Celina”Alexis” Lopez\, MS\, LPC-S \nCelina “Alexis” Lopez\, MS\, LPC-S\, is a therapist\, supervisor\, speaker\, and private practice owner with 20 years of experience.
