SUMMARY:Her Table: Women + Mental Health with Jennifer Newell
DESCRIPTION:Her Table is a shared meal that provides an opportunity for women to connect over good food and meaningful conversation. Dinner\, babysitting\, and all materials will be provided. Friends are always welcome! \nWorkshop Topic: Women + Mental Health \nJoin us for Her Table: Women + Mental Health\, an empowering and informative presentation focused on the unique intersections of gender and mental well-being. This session dives into mental health conditions that disproportionately or uniquely affect women\, such as anxiety\, depression\, PMDD\, and postpartum disorders\, while also exploring the impact of hormonal fluctuations across the menstrual cycle and beyond. \nWhether you’re navigating your own mental health journey or supporting someone else\, this session will offer compassionate insights\, science-backed information\, and actionable recommendations for recognizing when and how to seek care. You’ll leave better equipped to advocate for yourself and others\, with a clearer understanding of how female biology shapes mental health experiences. \nPerfect for anyone interested in women’s health\, mental wellness\, or creating more supportive communities\, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss. \nFacilitated by Jennifer Newell\, Founder & CEO of Betty’s Co. \nYou might say Betty’s Co. found Jennifer. At the age of 17\, she was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure\, sending her as an infertile person to solo-navigate a space in healthcare that revealed a massive care gap. From starting their periods up to pregnancy planning\, younger women simply were not getting care. Nearly 20 years after her diagnosis\, women’s healthcare looked very much the same. So\, Jennifer set out to create the change needed. Betty’s Co. embodies both Jennifer’s personal journey as a patient and her extensive professional background. Throughout her decade-long tenure with healthcare consulting and technology firm\, Jennifer has excelled in building and leading high-performing teams in business development\, content creation\, and product marketing. \nDinner Provided \nVegetarian options will be available.

SUMMARY:Journaling Workshop: Planting Seeds of Self-Love
DESCRIPTION:Journaling looks different for all of us: Some may adhere to a traditional diary form\, and some may experiment with such trends as junk journaling and bullet journaling. However you journal\, or whether you do at all\, you are welcome to join us for Planting Seeds of Self-Love\, a class that thoughtfully explores how to integrate long-lasting self-love into our personal journaling practices\, and therefore\, our lives. \n“The main thing\,” poet Grace Paley wrote\, “is when you get up in the morning\, you must take your heart in your two hands.” This two-hour session will create a foundation for “taking [our hearts] in [our] hands” and acknowledging all of the beauty that beats therein. Whether you’ve journaled for years or are just exploring the world of words\, please join this vital time of discovery and reflection\, as we celebrate and sing ourselves in the pages of our journals. You will come away with a guide to continue your practice and to frame your world with words of hope. \nFacilitated by Michelle Grajeda \nMichelle grew up as a bookworm and writer\, eventually studying education at Texas State University\, then literature and creative writing at UTSA. She is a proud public school educator of 30 years\, culminating her career with the Young Women’s Leadership Academy of San Antonio. She now works\, and continues to teach\, at a local\, woman-owned stationery shop called Belle & Union. She still enjoys journaling\, reading novels\, and writing poetry\, as well as taking walks with her husband Frank and their dog Toby.
