SUMMARY:Her Table: Closing the Pay Gap Through Salary Negotiation with Malinda Gaul
DESCRIPTION:Her Table is a shared meal that provides an opportunity for women to connect over good food and meaningful conversation. Dinner\, onsite babysitting\, and all materials will be provided. Friends are always welcome! \nWorkshop Topic: Closing the Pay Gap Through Salary Negotiation \nWomen who work full-time take home about 83 cents for every dollar a full-time male worker is paid. The pay gap grows larger over time during a woman’s career. Unless things change\, the pay gap will not close until 2106–that’s why women need to empower themselves with salary negotiation skills and work to change policies and employer culture. \nIn this workshop\, learn how to research your target salary\, highlight your accomplishments\, and find the right words–and the confidence–to negotiate for better benefits and pay. Negotiating increases your potential to earn more and can make the difference in paying off loans\, supporting your family\, buying what you want and need\, and saving for the future. \nFacilitators: Malinda Gaul \nMalinda Gaul is the senior partner at Gaul and Dumont\, an employment law firm primarily representing employees. Malinda is a Fellow with the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. \nMalinda currently is the National Vice Chair of AAUW\, an organization dedicated to advancing gender equity for women and girls through research\, education\, and advocacy. In addition to her work with AAUW\, Malinda is on the board of San Antonio Youth Literacy\, Equal Justice Center\, and Merced Housing Texas. \nDinner Provided \nVegetarian options will be available.

SUMMARY:International Women's Day Event: Stay Pink Panel
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free and empowering International Women’s Day celebration on March 8th! This year’s theme\, “Stay Pink\,” is inspired by the incredible resilience of flamingos—did you know that flamingos lose their pink color while raising their young? They give so much of themselves—literally donating their color—to nourish their chicks. Once their young are independent\, the flamingos regain their vibrant hue. \nAs women\, we often pour ourselves into others—our families\, our careers\, our communities—sometimes to the point of losing sight of our own needs\, dreams\, and purpose. This event is a chance to reclaim your pink—to reflect\, reset\, and reconnect with who you are meant to be. \nGuiding the conversation will be our event host\, Michelle Rouche. Our panel speakers will share their insights and experiences: \n\nWhitni Toson – Founder\, Director/CEO of Alamo Ranch Counseling & Wellness\nCarol Hardy – Founder of Unapolog3tic and RGScreenPrint\nJonetta Prendergast – CEO of For Her by Her Apparel\n\nWear your pink\, bring a friend\, and join us for an unforgettable time of inspiration\, connection\, and rediscovery. \nLunch will be provided\, thanks to Jersey Mike’s Subs. Please note childcare will not be provided for this event.

SUMMARY:Journaling Workshop: Planting Seeds of Self-Love
DESCRIPTION:Journaling looks different for all of us: Some may adhere to a traditional diary form\, and some may experiment with such trends as junk journaling and bullet journaling. However you journal\, or whether you do at all\, you are welcome to join us for Planting Seeds of Self-Love\, a class that thoughtfully explores how to integrate long-lasting self-love into our personal journaling practices\, and therefore\, our lives. \n“The main thing\,” poet Grace Paley wrote\, “is when you get up in the morning\, you must take your heart in your two hands.” This two-hour session will create a foundation for “taking [our hearts] in [our] hands” and acknowledging all of the beauty that beats therein. Whether you’ve journaled for years or are just exploring the world of words\, please join this vital time of discovery and reflection\, as we celebrate and sing ourselves in the pages of our journals. You will come away with a guide to continue your practice and to frame your world with words of hope. \nFacilitated by Michelle Grajeda \nMichelle grew up as a bookworm and writer\, eventually studying education at Texas State University\, then literature and creative writing at UTSA. She is a proud public school educator of 30 years\, culminating her career with the Young Women’s Leadership Academy of San Antonio. She now works\, and continues to teach\, at a local\, woman-owned stationery shop called Belle & Union. She still enjoys journaling\, reading novels\, and writing poetry\, as well as taking walks with her husband Frank and their dog Toby.
