SUMMARY:Parent Cafe Series: Calming the Stress Down
DESCRIPTION:For Her is excited to partner with Child Safe for our Parent Cafe Series. Caregivers and their partners are invited to engage in conversations with other parents as we explore how to be more present for our families while also taking the time to take better care of ourselves. \nParent Cafe Series pt 4: Calm the Stress Down \nAt this fourth and last session of this series\, join our conversation to take a “temperature check” of your stress level and learn ways to better recognize and manage your stress level. The holidays can be stressful. If we’re not careful\, our worries can take the joy out of the season. \nFacilitator: Felicia Avalos \nFelicia Avalos graduated from Texas A&M-San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science. She worked in the teaching profession for 10 years\, teaching elementary and middle school levels. During her career in education\, she spearheaded projects that helped children learn and grow. She also served as a team lead and advocated for fellow teachers. She later transitioned into the nonprofit sector\, where she is an Education Specialist at ChildSafe. She continues partnering with schools to promote child safety\, trauma-informed practices\, and a better future for all children everywhere. She remains dedicated to empowering families and strengthening communities through education and advocacy. \nFor Her Code of Conduct

SUMMARY:Creative Expression Through Oil Pastels with SAMA
DESCRIPTION:Join us for another inspiring evening with our friends from the San Antonio Museum of Art. This workshop echoes one of SAMA’s current focus exhibitions\, Renoir to Picasso: The Robertson Family Collection. \nIn this workshop you’ll learn about the museum and programs that they offer\, highlight some pieces from the exhibition\, and create oil pastel drawings on watercolor paper inspired by the work of Wassily Kandinsky. In this busy holiday season\, what better way to practice self-care than by embracing your creativity? \nThe session will be facilitated by Nia Jaramillo and Kathleen Royster. \nNia Jaramillo is a poet and multimedia artist born and raised on the Southside of San Antonio. She’s worked as a Museum Educator at the San Antonio Museum of Art for over a year and enjoys sharing her passion for art and artmaking with the community.  \nKathleen Royster is a San Antonio-raised arts educator and multimedia artist\, with focus on analog paper collage and felt art. Kathleen finds great joy in cultivating a welcoming space that invites creative experimentation and artistic expression for all. \nFor Her Code of Conduct \n
