SUMMARY:Self-Care Sunday: Pride Kickoff Yoga & Brunch
DESCRIPTION:Join For Her for Self-Care Sunday to prioritize your mental and physical well-being and give yourself the care and attention you deserve. We’ll start our yoga class with some gentle grounding and building awareness in the body and mind. This will be a fun and dynamic asana flow inclusive to all bodies and levels of yoga. The practice will include elements of balance\, strength\, and mindfulness\, and end with an easeful transition into restoration. Following yoga\, we’ll have a light brunch (and mimosas!). Coffee and other non-alcoholic options will also be available. \nFacilitator Bio:\nAmanda Millette has been involved in San Antonio’s yoga community for over a decade. Her teaching journey began a little over four years ago\, and her practice has only continued to evolve and grow. She is passionate about providing yoga under the umbrella of social justice and creating spaces that are inclusive and accessible to all. \nWear comfy clothes and bring your water bottle and yoga mat if you’ve got one. SUMMARY:Her Table: Building Resilience Through Community with Aryn Thompson\, LCSW-S
DESCRIPTION:Her Table is a shared meal that provides an opportunity for women to connect over good food and meaningful conversation. Dinner\, babysitting\, and all materials will be provided. Friends are always welcome! \nWorkshop Topic: Building Resilience Through Community \nIn this interactive workshop\, we will learn how mental health impacts the LGBTQ+ population. We will learn about the intersectionality of other identities we hold and how this shows up in our lives. After understanding the impact identities hold when navigating mental health\, we will explore the idea of neuroplasticity and healing through building community. We will learn about the impact community has on mental health\, especially LGBTQ+ community.  \nEveryone will have a chance to engage in an art activity to close the presentation. Using collage materials\, there will be 15 minutes given to creating a collage about what community means to them. Then we will use about 10 minutes to share at our tables what we created. We will leave empowered to continue fostering meaningful connections with others to continue our healing. \nFacilitator: Aryn Thompson\, LCSW-S \nAryn Thompson is a psychotherapist and owner of Lavender Space\, an inclusive therapy practice. Her Master’s in Social Work has helped her to become an advocate and understand the importance of resource connection. With experience in almost every type of mental health setting\, she has spent the last seven years dedicated to addressing the mental health disparities in her community. She started a therapy practice that specializes in providing queer-informed care to LGBTQIA+ people looking to improve their mental health. She is excited to have the opportunity to speak to the For Her community about queer mental health and fostering resilience through community! \nDinner Provided \nVegetarian options will be available.

With a passion for supporting survivors of trauma and abuse\, Susana has extensive experience facilitating groups and counseling individuals in both English and Spanish. \nSessions will be held at the For Her community center every Thursday\, June 13th through July 25th (with a break on the 4th of July holiday).
