SUMMARY:Her Circle: Queer Connections
DESCRIPTION:Her Circle: Queer Connections is for queer women and nonbinary folks to share a space in which they can build meaningful connections and community. Join us as we facilitate queer joy through celebrating\, supporting\, and uplifting each other. \nSessions will be held at the For Her community center every 2nd and 4th Wednesday. No worries if you can’t make it for every group! Friends are always welcome. Snacks and drinks are provided; feel free to bring your own dinner! Please note babysitting is not provided for this gathering. \nSave the date for future Her Circle: Queer Connections! \n\nApril 22\nMay 13\nMay 27\n\nFacilitated by Sarah Lopez & Hayley Russell \nSarah Lopez is a passionate advocate for queer women in San Antonio. After moving to the city a few years ago to embark on a career as a software engineer\, Sarah sought a strong sense of community and sisterhood. This journey led her to For Her\, a vibrant support group where connection thrives. Recognizing the need for solidarity among queer women\, Sarah took the initiative to spearhead the annual Pride events and the ongoing Queer Connections group at For Her. With a commitment to inclusivity\, Sarah aims to foster an environment where everyone feels uplifted\, seen\, and valued. Now\, as Sarah embarks on a new path by attending law school at St. Mary’s\, the goal remains the same: to empower and support the community.  \nAs a single parent for the past six years\, Hayley Russell has learned how to navigate life after leaving a decade-long abusive relationship and embracing her queer identity. During this pivotal chapter of her life\, For Her’s diverse groups gave her more than just support—they offered healing\, confidence\, and a sense of belonging she didn’t know she could find. Now\, Hayley is excited to give back by leading Queer Connections and helping others step into their own light. She is a fierce believer in the power of community\, shared stories\, and holding space for each other as we grow. Hayley’s hope is to offer the same care and connection that lifted her up when she needed it most. \nJoin Sarah and Hayley at Her Circle: Queer Connections in building a lasting sense of belonging! \nFor Her Code of Conduct

SUMMARY:Painting Workshop with SAMA: Celebrating Women's History Month
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special two-part art making workshop in partnership with the San Antonio Museum of Art\, celebrating Women’s History Month through the work of iconic artist Georgia O’Keeffe. \nInspired by SAMA’s current exhibition Canvas to Clay: Georgia O’Keeffe & Maria Martinez to Mata Ortiz & Tonalá\, this hands-on workshop invites you to explore O’Keeffe’s groundbreaking floral paintings and create your own artwork in her spirit. We’ll begin with an introduction to the exhibition and O’Keeffe’s life and legacy\, discovering how she challenged conventions and transformed the way we see the natural world. \nThen it’s time to create! You’ll practice “slow looking” by observing fresh floral arrangements\, taking time to notice color\, form\, and feeling. Using O’Keeffe’s approach as inspiration\, you’ll paint flowers from observation\, capturing their essence and impressions rather than perfect details. No art experience necessary; this workshop is about exploration\, self-expression\, and honoring the creative spirit within you. \nWe’ll close with time to reflect on the art making process and share our experiences together. It’s a beautiful way to celebrate Women’s History Month by connecting with the legacy of a woman who painted boldly and lived authentically. \nAll art materials provided. Childcare available. Light refreshments served. \nSave the date for our next Women’s History Month artmaking workshop! \n\nThursday\, March 19th at 6:00 PM: Hand-coiled pottery

SUMMARY:Her Table: Closing the Pay Gap Through Salary Negotiation with Malinda Gaul
DESCRIPTION:Her Table is a shared meal that provides an opportunity for women to connect over good food and meaningful conversation. Dinner\, babysitting\, and all materials will be provided. Friends are always welcome! \nWorkshop Topic: Closing the Pay Gap Through Salary Negotiation \nWomen who work full-time take home about 83 cents for every dollar a full-time male worker is paid. The pay gap grows larger over time during a woman’s career. Unless things change\, the pay gap will not close until 2106–that’s why women need to empower themselves with salary negotiation skills and work to change policies and employer culture. \nIn this workshop\, learn how to research your target salary\, highlight your accomplishments\, and find the right words–and the confidence–to negotiate for better benefits and pay. Negotiating increases your potential to earn more and can make the difference in paying off loans\, supporting your family\, buying what you want and need\, and saving for the future. \nFacilitators: Malinda Gaul \nMalinda Gaul is the senior partner at Gaul and Dumont\, an employment law firm primarily representing employees. Malinda is a Fellow with the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. \nMalinda currently is the National Vice Chair of AAUW\, an organization dedicated to advancing gender equity for women and girls through research\, education\, and advocacy. In addition to her work with AAUW\, Malinda is on the board of San Antonio Youth Literacy\, Equal Justice Center\, and Merced Housing Texas. \nDinner Provided \nVegetarian options will be available. \nFor Her Code of Conduct
