Beginner Judo for Women Workshop

August 1 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free

Join us for a fun, welcoming, and beginner-friendly introduction to Judo! This session is designed with safety first, creating a comfortable and supportive environment for women to learn something new, build confidence, and develop practical self-defense skills.

You’ll learn the fundamentals of Judo, including techniques from both standing and ground positions, all taught by experienced female black belt instructors. No prior experience or uniform is required—just come as you are!

After the training, stay and socialize with fellow participants while enjoying light snacks and refreshments.

Coach Rita Stephens is the Women’s Judo Coach at South Texas Judo. She began her judo journey at age 12 and later expanded her martial arts experience by cross-training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Outside the dojo, Rita enjoys spending time with her two dogs, crafting, and searching for new favorite matcha drinks and ice cream flavors. Having lived in six different states, she loves exploring new places and experiences. She now calls San Antonio home, where she lives with her best friend.

Assistant Coach Jessica Jenkins began her judo journey at age 14 and competed extensively throughout her young adult years. Today, she balances her love of judo with family life, working from home while raising three children with her husband. When she’s not on the mat, Jessica enjoys spending time with her five dogs, cat, chickens, and turkey, and can often be found reading a good book or taking a well-earned nap.
