May 15, 2024 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Free

Her Table is a shared meal that provides an opportunity for women to connect over good food and meaningful conversation. Dinner, babysitting, and all materials will be provided. Friends are always welcome!

Workshop Topic: Talk Saves Lives

On May 15th, For Her will host the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for their workshop, Talk Saves Lives. We’ll talk about what we know about this leading cause of death, the most up-to-date research on prevention, and what we can all do to fight suicide. Community members will learn the common risk factors for suicide, how to spot the warning signs in others, and how to keep ourselves, our loved ones, and those in our community safe.

Facilitator: Julia Hewitt, The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

For Her is honored to welcome Julia Hewitt, the Board Chair for the South Texas Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She has been a volunteer with AFSP since 2018, and she’s also served as a crisis counselor. Julia is an Executive Director with Wells Fargo and an Adjunct Professor of psychology at two universities. Julia’s graduate work involves resilience and leadership.

Julia is a native of Russia and an immigrant, building her life in San Antonio. She has two wonderful children, three dogs, and a cat. As a family they enjoy staying active, traveling, hiking, live music, and cooking.
